Violation of human genetic rights ---------------- Monday, the 10th of December , will be observed as the International Human Rights Day with the theme “Stand Up For Human Rights”. This day is celebrated to fight for the various types of rights human beings have, to promote their awareness and to improve the physical, genetic, biological, social, cultural and political wellbeing of the human species. In this essay, I shall be dwelling on the rights humans have at the level of genes called as Human Genetic Rights (HGRs) adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in the year 1998, fifty years after the declaration of Universal Human Rights in 1948. The world AIDS day is celebrated by WHO in partnership with UN member states on December 1st every year since 1988 to provide an opportunity to the people worldwide to unite and financially support the fight against HIV. This year is the thirty years of world AIDS day labelled as WAD30 and celebrated under the theme “Know Your Status” because one in four people with HIV don’t know they have it. Therefore, to know the risks and the personal status is imperative to all. The 2018 campaign is about raising awareness and donating money at the level of community, social media, schools, colleges and universities or at other work places with the slogan “ROCK THE RED RIBBON” to support the HIV affected people and their families.
